Healthy nutrition is of the utmost importance for the children in our care. Children are in a growth phase and need nutrients for their optimal development. Eating habits are formed throughout life. The early years in particular play a very important role in establishing eating habits that promote health from childhood into adulthood.
A healthy diet is fundamental to the development of a healthy child and contributes greatly to education, as it promotes the ability to concentrate and the willingness to participate in daily activities.
We always offer rice or pasta, beans, red meat, chicken or eggs, a salad with different leaves, various vegetables such as pumpkin, zucchinis, carrots, sweet potatoes, manioc and others as the main course. Breakfast and afternoon meals consist of vitamin-rich fruit or vegetables, yogurt, bread with butter, latte, saltine crackers and much more.
The diet of the children in care must consist of essential macronutrients such as protein and fiber as well as calcium, vitamins A and B and iron. The average daily amount of energy and macronutrients offered to the children at the facility is between 500 kcal and 700 kcal. When the children are enrolled, we also check whether they have any allergies or intolerances, which we then take into account on a case-by-case basis if necessary.
