In the 2025 Report, you can read more up-to-date background information on the 17 United Nations goals for a fairer and more sustainable world.
Climate change has long been a reality - with dramatic consequences for millions of people worldwide. Extreme weather events such as droughts, floods and hurricanes are increasing in frequency and intensity. Between 2015 and 2022, an average of 133 million people were affected by disasters each year - almost five times as many as in the previous decade. The poorest countries are particularly at risk: their populations contribute the least to greenhouse gas emissions, but suffer the most from the consequences.
The United Nations has set clear targets with Sustainable Development Goal 13 - Climate Action : Global warming is to be limited to a maximum of 1.5 °C, international cooperation is to be strengthened and particularly vulnerable people are to be better protected. However, the current political measures are not enough - the world is heading for warming of around 3 °C by the end of the century.
humedica is tackling the consequences of climate change where they hit hardest: with medical emergency and disaster aid, with supplies after floods or earthquakes and with projects that make people more resilient to climate-related crises.
