Of the nine children Nomena* gave birth to, only two are still alive. "My children never came of age," the Madagascan confides. The painful loss is written in her eyes. As if that wasn't enough, she had to leave her home village - an attack by cattle rustlers forced her to flee.

A year ago, she finally found refuge near Fort Dauphin in the south of Madagascar. There, in a remote village, Nomena is raising three children on her own in a small hut: her own five-year-old daughter and her two grandchildren aged three and six.

Hunger is her daily companion

To feed her family, Nomena mainly relies on her small manioc field. Sometimes she finds work in one of the nearby fields. Nevertheless, the struggle for survival begins anew every day. The certainty of being fed remains an unattainable luxury for the family. Meals are often limited to a modest ration of manioc. Hunger is their daily companion.

When Nomena's three-year-old granddaughter Meva* suffers from severe malnutrition, the need is great. If this is not recognized and treated in time, it has lifelong consequences. By great good fortune, she learns about Humedica's local partner organization and brings Meva for medical treatment.

Food donations of rice, beans, milk, water and oil ensure Nomena and her family's daily survival

Since then, the girl has benefited five times from vital restorative nutrition - invaluable help. "Thanks to humedica's help, my daughter's health has improved amazingly," says Nomena gratefully. Her greatest wish is to see her children healthy. She therefore hopes that she can continue to benefit from humedica's help. Thanks to your help, Nomena doesn't have to worry about feeding her family.
