A partnership with development
The collaboration between humedica and coocazoo began back in 2018 with an initial generous donation in kind. Since 2019, the company has regularly supported humedica with relief supplies - for example for our Gift-with-a-Heart campaign. In 2021, this trusting relationship grew into a CSR partnership that reached a new dimension at the beginning of 2022: the launch of the Charity Collection. The design of the collection was based on drawings and wishes for the future of children from Sri Lanka and carries their messages of education and hope into everyday school life. Because: "Dreams will grow bigger together!"
Enabling education - with every backpack
Since 2022, coocazoo has been supporting humedica's educational projects with its Charity Collection. For every school backpack or accessory sold, a fixed proportion of the donation goes to humedica - and reaches where help is urgently needed: children in Sri Lanka.
GRACE: Prevention and protection in schools
The realities of life for children and young people in Sri Lanka have changed in recent years. In addition to poverty and educational disadvantage, young people today face additional risks - such as drug abuse, social pressure and the influence of social media. As part of GRACE, humedica supports schools in protecting children and young people from these risks at an early stage. Teachers are trained to recognize warning signs and pupils receive age-appropriate information and guidance on how to act responsibly. The aim is to strengthen young people in their personal development and give them support for the rest of their lives.
GRACE is humedica's current education and prevention project in Sri Lanka. The name stands for Growth (development), Responsibility (responsibility), Awareness (consciousness), Care (care) and Empowerment (empowerment).
GROW: Learning spaces for children
Before the focus of the educational work in Sri Lanka was further developed, humedica supported children for several years in so-called GROW centers with the help of coocazoo. These protected places of learning offered children from disadvantaged families tutoring, care and a small meal - important prerequisites for not falling behind in everyday school life.
In addition to academic support, the focus was also on social skills. The children learned to take responsibility, to treat themselves and others with respect and to develop confidence in their own abilities. The experience gained from these many years of work forms the basis for the current focus of educational and prevention work in Sri Lanka.
Successful start in Benin
Before the support was transferred to Sri Lanka, the Charity Collection had already made important educational measures possible in Benin, West Africa: the donations were used to build additional classrooms, create a school garden and a playground and modernize the school kitchen. The children there benefit not only from better teaching, but also from healthy nutrition and environmental education - a holistic approach that combines school and life.
CSR that really makes a difference
The cooperation with coocazoo shows how corporate responsibility can be turned into lived solidarity. Every bag sold gives children a day or an hour of education - a simple formula with a big impact. The support helps to finance running costs such as school materials, teacher fees or healthy meals at our GROW Centers in Sri Lanka.
