Frauen holen Wasser in Pakistan
Drought or torrential rainfall, hardly any latrines and an inadequate drinking water infrastructure - many people in Pakistan are struggling with a lack of drinking water. Contaminated water thus becomes a major health threat - because infectious diseases, diarrhea and parasite infestations spread among the population in no time. humedica works with its local partner to build latrines and large water tanks with clean water, and trains the population in water filtration and hygiene measures.

The situation on site

Even before the flood disaster in late summer 2022, clean drinking water was in short supply in Pakistan. Water is scarce for most of the year, especially in the south. In many places, there is a lack of wells, filters and latrines to treat the water and prevent it from becoming contaminated. When monsoon-like rainfall occurs, the little drinkable water is polluted by the torrential water. People have no choice but to drink this water - a clear path for infectious diseases and parasites to spread in no time at all.
