Heavy rainfall in mid-August 2025 led to severe flash floods and landslides in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in northern Pakistan. At the end of August, the floods spread to Punjab, Pakistan's most populous province. Families lost their homes, their livelihoods and their access to clean water. People were swept away by the masses of water, over 800 lost their lives and tens of thousands were evacuated. At the beginning of September, three major rivers flooded simultaneously, converging in the Indus and threatening other regions. More than one million people will be affected by the consequences of the disaster.
