Since the outbreak of civil war in spring 2023, Sudan has been plunged into the world's largest refugee crisis, according to the United Nations. humedica supports refugees in reception camps with medical care.

Current situation in Sudan

Sudan is sinking into chaos: 14 million people are fleeing within the country, 7.3 million of whom have been forced to leave their homes since the outbreak of the civil war alone. More than 25 million Sudanese are suffering from acute hunger. Fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) is escalating in various parts of the country. The civilian population is being threatened, killed and cut off from supplies of food and medical aid.

In the east of the country, the situation is fairly stable. humedica is supporting people in reception camps here and in surrounding regions who have also previously fled from the surrounding crisis countries such as Congo, Niger, Eritrea or Ethiopia. humedica is providing refugees with medical care and covering the costs of treatment in nearby clinics.
