Current Situation in Nepal
A severe flash flood struck parts of the Himalayan region in Nepal and Tibet on the morning of August 26, 2026. The flash flood was triggered by the collapse of a glacier, which created a massive avalanche of ice and debris that was swept further downstream.
The masses of water and mud devastated entire communities: houses, roads, and bridges were destroyed. As a result, remote villages are difficult to reach.
According to current reports, more than 1,200 people have lost their lives. More than 5,000 people are still missing. (As of September 4, 2026)
