In 2020, a political conflict broke out in the northern Ethiopian region of Tigray. The result was a civil war that hit the people in the region hardest. According to estimates, more than 500,000 people lost their lives. Many fled the violence.
But even there, people continued to suffer, as most of those who previously had some land and therefore a small harvest now had nothing to eat. Many starved to death.
To this day, many of the approximately two million refugees are still living in makeshift camps. The health stations are completely overloaded. humedica is helping the refugees and the village communities in which they have been accommodated and is providing medical care.
